What a PSI is designed to establish

A PSI examines the site’s history and current condition to identify potential contamination issues and the need for further investigation. It helps define the questions that must be answered before decisions about site suitability or development can be made.

Scope built around your site

Our proposed scope identifies the desktop records to be reviewed, inspection arrangements, reporting requirements and any exclusions. Typical work includes a site history review, site walkover and development of a conceptual site model linking potential sources, migration pathways and receptors.

Sampling is not automatically part of every PSI. If testing is needed, we explain its purpose and include it in the agreed scope or recommend a further investigation. A desktop-only review should not be assumed to provide the same evidence as a complete site investigation.

PSI or DSI?

A PSI focuses on identifying potential contamination. A detailed site investigation gathers additional evidence to characterise contamination and inform suitability or management decisions. We review existing information before recommending the appropriate stage; further investigation is not assumed to be necessary on every site.
