Book clearance before the removal job finishes

Planning the inspection early helps align the removal contractor, site access and the project programme. Tell us whether the work involves friable or non-friable asbestos, whether an enclosure is being used and whether any consent conditions apply.

What the inspection covers

The agreed scope may include reviewing the removal area and supporting information, inspecting for visible asbestos debris and documenting the findings. Clearance air monitoring is included where required by the work and applicable guidance. It is a separate task from identifying asbestos before removal.

If the inspection identifies remaining debris or incomplete work, further cleaning and reassessment may be needed. A clearance certificate is issued only when the relevant clearance criteria have been met; booking an inspection does not guarantee clearance.

Independence and the right assessor

NSW clearance requirements depend on the removal work. Friable asbestos clearance requires an independent licensed asbestos assessor; non-friable work may be assessed by an independent competent person or asbestos assessor. We confirm the appropriate scope and independence before accepting an engagement.
